Oxford Castle (Corey and Brice)








We will present Oxford Castle that we visited the day of our arrival.




Oxford Castle was built by William the Conqueror, in 1077 for Queen Mathilda (aka Princess Maud and who escaped in 1142) ...













... in 1239, Oxford Castle officially becomes a prison.




From 1641 to 1652 there was a great civil war in England during which the castle Oxford has been used to detain political prisoners.













The prison of Oxford Castle has a tower called "Tower St George" in which prisoners were confined: to arrive top of the tower, he must climb the one hundred and one steps.
